Hernando de Luque
Hernando de Luque († 1532 in Panama City ) was a Spanish priest who traveled to the New World in the 16th century . In 1514 he reached Panama in the wake of the expedition led by Pedro Arias Dávila , where he met Francisco Pizarro . In 1526 Luque financed the second expedition of Pizarro and Diego de Almagro to the south, during which they first came into contact with the Inca Empire in 1528 .
With the capitulación of Toledo, in which the Spanish king Pizarro and Almagro gave permission to conquer the Inca Empire (" New Castile ") (1529), he received the title "Bishop of Tumbes " and "Protector of the Indians of Peru".
