The Heroína Island (in Argentina Islote Heroína , in Chile Islote Ercilla ) is an island off the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . It forms the northeast end of the Danger Islands east-southeast of Joinville Island .

Scientists on an Argentine Antarctic expedition lasting from 1948 to 1949 named her after the Heroína , the ship on this expedition. The namesake of the Chilean name is the Spanish writer Alonso de Ercilla y Zúñiga (1533–1594).
