Herrgott aus Sta (Viennese for Herrgott aus Stein ) is a Viennese song written by Karl Hodina .

History of origin

With his “Herrgott aus Sta” (Herrgott aus Sta), composed and written in 1962, which goes back to an experience from his own youth, Karl Hodina created a modern type of Viennese song that is based on tradition, in melodious language, but with simple harmonics and a small range Viennese chanson is attributed.

Trivia

In the 1980s, a wine tavern called “Herrgott aus Sta” was established in Speckbachergasse in Ottakring . Karl Hodina appeared in this bar twice a month and played Viennese songs.
