Herrnsaal is a part of the city of Kelheim that has been incorporated since 1978 in the district of the same name in Lower Bavaria. It is located about seven kilometers east of the core city on the northern side of the Danube and has 248 inhabitants.

history

The oldest evidence of settlement is from the Neolithic period. Almost 6000 years ago people settled in the area around Herrnsaal. In the 12th century, a henchman's office was established in Herrnsaal . For centuries the place was the seat of the court.

Until the regional reform in 1978, the place was an independent municipality. Herrnsaal has been a district of Kelheim since it was incorporated. In 2013 it was announced that the fire station would be converted into a community hall with a citizens' hall.

economy

The village is strongly characterized by agriculture. Sand and gravel processing also plays an economic role.
