Herschel Gluck

Herschel Gluck OBE (* 1959 ) is a British Orthodox rabbi .

Life

He is deputy chairman of the Arab-Jewish Forum and founder and chairman of the Muslim-Jewish Forum, which was established in 2000 .

He was and is also active in other countries and regions as a mediator of opposing positions, for example through the Next Century Foundation in various conflicts in Sudan and in former Yugoslavia .

It became known through WikiLeaks that he had been contacted by Israel to work in Iran for the release of Gilad Shalit .

At the beginning of 2013, Queen Elizabeth awarded him the Order of the British Empire in recognition of his services to interreligious understanding.

In earlier years, Herschel Gluck worked for a long time as a rabbi for the German Association of Jewish Students , his father helped many Jewish communities in Germany with their reconstruction work after 1945. Herschel Gluck himself also helped many German congregations with reconstruction work and many individuals in Germany with personal Problems and emergencies.
