Herta Wimmler

Herta Wimmler (born August 26, 1937 in Bruck an der Mur , Styria ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

After attending elementary school and grammar school in Bruck, where she graduated from high school in 1956 , Wimmler learned the profession of chemical laboratory assistant from 1956 to 1958 . Then she found work in her job at the Böhler-Uddeholm company in Kapfenberg .

With one exception, an eight-year parental leave between 1961 and 1969, during which she took care of her three children, Wimmler worked for Böhler-Uddeholm until 1988 . In this company she sat on the works council and was also involved in union activities .

In 1986 Wimmler also went into politics when she moved into the Kapfenberg municipal council for the ÖVP . In this she held a mandate until 2000. In January 2002 she was sworn in as a member of the Federal Council in Vienna . In this she represented the interests of the Styrians until October 2005.

In his private life, Wimmler is involved in the Kapfenberger Hilfswerke, an organization in which children with German and non-German mother tongues are equally supported. The integration project was awarded the Humanitas medal , among other things . In 2018 she was awarded the Great Decoration of Honor of the State of Styria .
