Sacred Heart Cathedral (Guangzhou)
The Sacred Heart Cathedral in Guangzhou ( Chinese 廣州 石室 聖 心 大教堂 / 广州 石室 圣 心 大教堂 , Pinyin Guǎngzhōu shíshì shèngxīn dà jiàotáng , French cathédrale du Sacré-Cœur-de-Jésus ) was built between 1863 and 1888 Roman Catholic Church in Guangzhou (Canton) in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong . It is located in the Yuexiu District on Yide Lu Street on the north bank of the Pearl River in the Old City. It was built for French missionaries on behalf of the Paris Mission .
The neo-Gothic church is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Guangzhou . The trade fairs are held in Cantonese , Korean , Standard Chinese and English .
It has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China (4-215) since 1996 . The church was last revived or restored in 2006. Before it was barely visible behind a fence.
