Queen of Hearts

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Queen of Hearts is a polka française by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 445). The work was performed for the first time on February 6, 1893 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna.

Remarks

The polka was written for the carnival ball of the journalists' association Concordia and was premiered on this occasion. However, it did not last long in the repertoire. In the following years it was rarely or not played at all. Because of a change of publisher, opus number 445 was awarded twice. In addition to this polka, the Ninetta waltz also bears this opus number.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 42 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
