Ninetta waltz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ninetta Walzer is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 445). The work was created in 1892 and 1893 and was premiered on January 21, 1893 in the Vienna Hofburg under the direction of Carl Michael Ziehrer .

Remarks

The composer has put the work together based on motifs from the operetta Fürstin Ninetta . It joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 446 , 447 , 448 , 449 and 450 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. The first performance of the waltz took place eleven days after the first performance of the aforementioned operetta Fürstin Ninetta (January 10, 1893). The playing time is about 13 minutes and 41 seconds plus or minus a few seconds depending on the musical concept of the respective conductor. The main theme of the waltz is based on the waltz song I once dreamed that I was the Shah of Persia from the 3rd act of the operetta Ninetta . Due to a change of publisher, opus number 445 was awarded twice. In addition to this waltz, the Polka Queen of Hearts also wears this opus number.
