Diplomatic polka

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The diplomatic polka is a polka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 448). The work was performed for the first time on February 26, 1893 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein .

Remarks

The polka was put together based on motifs from the operetta Princess Ninetta . The work thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 445 , 446 , 447 , 449 and 450 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. The title name is taken from the rather confused plot of the operetta.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 4 minutes and 17 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
