Remarks

The Viennese artists' association Aurora had dissolved in 1859. A new association of this kind was soon founded under the name Hesperus . Hesperus referred to the evening star in Greek mythology, while Aurora was the Roman goddess of the dawn . All three Strauss brothers became members of the Hesperus and wrote many works for them over the following decades. One of the first works was the Hesperus Polka by Johann Strauss, which was premiered at their carnival ball in 1861.

The playing time on the CD listed under itemization is 2 minutes and 23 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
