Hessian Cultural Foundation

The Hessische Kulturstiftung is a foundation under civil law with legal capacity established in 1988 by the German state of Hesse and has its seat in Wiesbaden .

Task

The foundation supports Hessian museums, exhibition halls and art associations and other institutions of the visual arts, libraries and archives by awarding grants for purchases, exhibitions and catalogs. It also performs tasks of promoting young talent in the field of visual media by running a program with travel and studio grants for artists in the visual media.

Scholarship program

The scholarship program is aimed at artists who were born in Hesse, who have lived in Hesse for three years (retroactive to the application) and / or who have completed a full degree in fine art (or a comparable degree) at a Hesse university or art academy. It was designed in analogy to a postgraduate scholarship for young scientists and provides for one-year stays in one of the foundation's own residential studios in Paris, London, Istanbul or New York. In addition, free travel grants can also be applied for. A total of eight studio grants and six travel grants are awarded every two years.
