Hessian medal for civil courage

The Hessian Medal for Civil Courage was donated on September 6, 2008 by the Hessian Prime Minister as an award in recognition of special civil courage .

Award Regulations

The medal for moral courage represents state recognition that can be awarded to people who “have stood up for the values ​​of the Hessian constitution or have given assistance while accepting considerable personal disadvantages or dangers ”.

A public commendation is also given and a certificate is presented at the award ceremony.

Appearance and material

The design of the medal for moral courage is based on the Hessian rescue medal . The medal for moral courage has a diameter of 25 mm and is made of silver . The front is identical to the rescue medal : It shows the state coat of arms with the lettering HESSEN underneath . The reverse shows the inscription FOR CIVIL COURAGE , surrounded by an oak wreath . The medal is carried by a red ribbon, which is interrupted by a narrow white stripe near the edge on both sides.

The ribbon buckle is in the colors of the medal ribbon and has a reduced form of the state coat of arms in the center.
