Hessian publishing price

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hessian Publishing Prize is awarded by the Hessian Ministry for Science and Art in cooperation with the State Association of Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland eV of the German Book Trade Association. It has been awarded annually since 2018 and is endowed with a total of € 20,000.

Goal of the price

The Hessian Publishing Prize is intended to honor the work of independent publishers in the State of Hesse. The criteria here are publishing work, composition of the publishing program, book production and support for the authors - but not book successes or well-known authors. Independent publishers from all sectors with headquarters in Hesse can apply; the annual turnover must be less than two million euros (as of 2018). The prize is divided into two categories - the main prize, endowed with € 15,000, and the start-up prize, endowed with € 5,000, for young publishers who founded or took over a publisher in the previous year. The award is made by an independent jury.
