Hesso III. from Backnang

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

At the beginning of the 12th century, Hesso (III.) Was probably the son and successor of Hesso II from the Hesson dynasty , although his existence is questionable; it is only documented once as the child of Hessos II. Presumably during his reign, the von Backnang family , which was given as a dowry to the Margraves of Baden around 1111 , moved to Wolfsölden Castle . He was the last member of the dynasty that bore the uniform name "Hesso".

Historically, it is barely comprehensible, and its chronological classification is even more difficult than with its two predecessors. Depending on how one dates their reign, the life and reign of Hessos III also shifts. If one assumes that the Backnang heiress Judith was the daughter of Hessos II and thus his sister, and that his father was still alive at the time of their wedding in 1111, he probably died early, since from now on no more Hesso is mentioned and instead his brother (or son?) Siegehard von Wolfsölden rose to head the dynasty. According to another theory (according to O. Kilian), Hesso III existed. not even at all and it is just a wrongly interpreted double recording in the Backnang Nekrolog.
