The Hetman Museum ( Ukrainian Музей гетьманства ; Musej hetmanstwa ) in the Ukrainian capital Kiev is a museum in which the history of the Ukrainian liberation and resistance movement from the beginning of the Cossacks at the end of the 15th century to the last Hetman in 1918 in over 6000 exhibits is pictured.
The Hetman Museum is a national cultural, educational and research institution of Ukraine and was founded in Kiev on March 11, 1993 by a decree of the President of Ukraine . It is open from Saturday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
House Masepa
The museum is located in the Masepa House , a Ukrainian Baroque house from the beginning of the 18th century in the Podil district of Kiev, rebuilt in a classical style by the architect Andrei Melenski . The Masepa house is named after the hetman Iwan Masepa and is one of the few architectural monuments that survived the great fire in Podil in 1811 .
