"Hexaglot Holding GmbH" ( Hexaglot ) was a 100% subsidiary of the Langenscheidt publishing group. The company was managed by Hans-Wolfram Tenter (management).

history

Hexaglot was founded in 1989. The name Hexaglot is derived from the Greek hexa for "six" and from glotta for "language" and describes the first self-developed product from 1990: the T427, a language computer with six languages.

In 1992, Hexaglot bought the majority of the Pinneberg company Sita Daten- und Kommunikations-GmbH , which developed and sold the Sita-Learning language teaching system . The system worked according to the principle of superlearning ( suggestopedia ) based on breathing feedback control, text and audio cassettes. According to Rainer Dieterich , professor at the Department of Education at the Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg , the method affected the learner's subconscious in a hypnosis- like state.

In 1993, Hexaglot was taken over by the Langenscheidt Group.

As the legal entity taking over, Hexaglot Holding GmbH was merged with Sita Daten- und Kommunikation-GmbH by the merger agreement of August 13, 2012.

In December 2012, the company was dissolved by means of a merger agreement.
