Ahrbrück witch memorial

The witch monument is a memorial for the persecution of witches in the district of Ahrbrück .

On January 31, 2008, 15 citizens formed an initiative group to erect a memorial in memory of the witch hunt. The impetus was provided by research into the family chronicle of one of his descendants, Else Simons, who was hanged on August 3, 1649 and then burned. (Copy of the court record)

The initiative group met on June 17, 2008 to lay the foundation stone. The official inauguration took place on September 3, 2008 in the presence of District Administrator Jürgen Pföhler . Pastor Volker Dupont blessed the memorial on March 21, 2009.
