Ahrbrück is a municipality in the Ahrweiler district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Altenahr .

Community structure

The community consists of the three districts Ahrbrück (until 1938 Denn ), Brück and Pützfeld. The residential areas “An der Pützfelder Kapelle” and “Im Ahrbogen” also belong to Pützfeld.

history

Pützfeld was first mentioned in 893 as a property of the Prüm Abbey . In the 13th century it belonged, as well as the settlements for the first time in records in 1265 bridge and because, to the County Are , with 1246 the three villages under Cologne Highness the Office Altenahr came. Pützfeld owned a larger castle complex , the owners of which built the Marienkapelle to the left of the Ahr in 1681 .

In 1649 , Else Simons from Pützfeld was reported as a witch and tortured in the witch hunt . The execution had to be attended by all the people of the place as a deterrent. To commemorate Else Simons, a memorial stone was erected at the former execution site Auf Wolfsgraben in 2008 .

In 1938, the village of “Denn” was evacuated when the Ahrbrück air force training area was created . The former air force training area Ahrbrück was released for resettlement in 1950 and it was decided to settle displaced farmers from the East Prussian Warmia. The name “Ahrbrück” instead of Denn was retained during the resettlement after the Second World War.

The current local community was formed on June 7, 1969 after the dissolution of the previously independent communities Ahrbrück (502 inhabitants), Brück (443 E.) and Pützfeld (230 E.).

Municipal council

The municipal council in Ahrbrück consists of 16 council members, who were elected in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a personalized proportional representation, and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

mayor

Walter Radermacher (Citizens' Association) became the local mayor of Ahrbrück in July 2016. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in his office for a further five years with a share of 85.17% of the votes.

Rademacher's predecessor Heribert Seul (CDU) resigned from office with effect from March 31, 2016 for personal reasons. For a transitional period, the official business was carried out by the first deputy Rita Löhndorf until the successor took office.

The largest sacred building in Ahrbrück is the St. Andreas Church .

Worth mentioning are the village chapels of St. Rochus in Ahrbrück and St. Katharina in Brück, the Pützfeld Marian pilgrimage chapel, restored in 1993 with baroque furnishings, and the evangelical resurrection chapel.

A smaller gym is located on the grounds of the Denntal primary school. In addition to running the school, this is also used by the local associations.
