Anita Schomisch became mayor of Nürburg on June 26, 2019. Since there were no applicants in the direct election on May 26, 2019, the upcoming election of the mayor was incumbent on the council, which decided in favor of Schomisch, in accordance with the municipal regulations.

Schomisch's predecessor Reinhold Schüssler had held the office for 17 years, but did not take up office again in 2019.

Sports

There is a winter sports area on the northern slope of the Burgberg . In 1952, the community of Nürburg built a 42-meter ski jump there in a north-west location, which was inaugurated on January 11, 1953 with the state championship. However, the operation was stopped after a few years. Their location can still be clearly seen from a bird's eye view.
