Lind is a municipality in the Ahrweiler district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Altenahr .

geography

The municipality Lind is located in the conservation area Rhein-Ahr-Eifel . It is divided into the four districts of Lind, Obliers , Plittersdorf and Laubachshof.

history

The oldest documentary evidence for the existence of Lind (linden tree) is the Prümer Urbar , a list of goods from the Prüm Abbey from 893. In 1222 Lind is a fiefdom of the Counts of Are-Hochstaden and in 1316 it becomes a parish in the Liber Valoris as a parish in the Ahrgaudekanat of the Archdiocese Cologne , to which it belonged until 1802. In 1692, Lind is robbed three times by Brandenburg troops during the 2nd Bonn siege.

Today's community was formed on March 30, 1971 from the dissolved communities Lind (287 inhabitants), Obliers (58 E.) and Plittersdorf (101 E.).

Population development

The first more precise information is from 1670: 30 houses = approx. 150 inhabitants, then 1684: 130 communicants = approx. 175 inhabitants and 1743: 180 communicants = approx. 240 inhabitants.

Municipal council

The local council in Lind consists of twelve council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Werner Zavelberg became the local mayor of Lind on August 13, 2019. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected for five years with 54.83% of the vote.

Zavelsberg's predecessor Helmut Hengsberg had held the office for 15 years.

tourism

The main hiking trail 2a of the Eifelverein , the 183 km long Karl-Kaufmann-Weg , leads through Lind . Four circular hiking trails run by the Lind e. V. with a total length of 35 km convey lasting impressions of the landscape. Once a year there is a mountain time trial with a length of approx. 4 km and an altitude difference of 255 meters from Ahrbrück to Lind, an incline that also attracts numerous cyclists from the region. The Ahr cycle path in the Ahr valley is not far away. The AhrSteig long-distance hiking trail has been running through Lind since 2012 .
