Oberdürenbach is a municipality in the Ahrweiler district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Brohltal community . In the dialect Oberdürenbach is called Dürmerich (also written Dürmerech ).
geography
Oberdürenbach is located in the Eastern Eifel in the "Rhein-Ahr-Eifel" conservation area . The community consists of the three districts of Büschhöfe , Oberdürenbach and Schelborn as well as the residential areas "Am Fuchskopf" and "Landgut Stockhof".
history
Oberdürenbach belonged to the rulership of Olbrück until the end of the 18th century .
In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the left bank of the Rhine . Under French administration, Oberdürenbach belonged to the Mairie Königsfeld in the canton of Wehr , which was assigned to the Arrondissement of Bonn and the Rhine-Moselle department . After the treaties concluded at the Congress of Vienna , the region, including Oberdürenbach, became part of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 . Under the Prussian administration, Oberdürenbach belonged from 1816 to the mayor's office in Königsfeld in the Ahrweiler district , which was part of the Coblenz administrative district and from 1822 to the Rhine Province .
The municipality has belonged to the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 and to the Brohlal community since 1969 .

Municipal council
The municipal council in Oberdürenbach consists of twelve council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

Elisabeth Dahr became the local mayor of Oberdürenbach on September 9, 2009. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, she was confirmed in her office for another five years with a share of the vote of 55.85%.
Dahr's predecessor as local mayor, Wolfgang Hurth, did not run again in 2009.

- Königssee , located in an old basalt quarry just a few minutes' walk from Oberdürenbach
- Chapel of St. Cornelius and Cyprianus from 1754, inside there is a high altar (wood) from the 17th century; three figure niches of the same height in an unusual shape, central niche flanked by twisted columns with grape tendrils
