history

Larger closed settlements did not emerge in the place until the 12th century - relatively late. Before that, there were only a few settlements and farms from the Roman and Franconian era , similar to the neighboring towns of Vinxt and Schalkenbach . Dedenbach was first mentioned in a document from 25 July 1309 by Gerhard Burggraf von der Landskron . In this, the count and Königsfeld agreed that in the future he will rightly be entitled to the tithe he has received from a meadow, called “in the Beenth”, below the “villam Deidenbach” .

The spelling of today's local community has changed several times in the course of its history: in 1309 it was called “Deidenbach”, 1310 “Deydenbag”, 1329 “Dedynbach”, 1441 “Deydenbach”, from 1624 “Diedenbach” and from 1696 Dedenbach ( dialect : Dädemech ).
