Niederduerenbach in the Eifel is a municipality in the Ahrweiler district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Brohltal community , which has its administrative headquarters in Niederzissen .
geography
The community is located in the eastern Eifel region in the conservation area "Rhein-Ahr-Eifel". It is divided into the main town Niederdürenbach and the districtsGrove and Wooden meadows. To Niederduerenbach includes the most Brohlbach lying residential space Lochmühle.
history
Niederdürenbach belonged to the kingdom of Olbrück until the end of the 18th century .
In 1794 French revolutionary troops occupied the left bank of the Rhine . Under the French administration, Niederduerenbach belonged to the Mairie Königsfeld in the canton of Wehr , which was assigned to the Arrondissement of Bonn and the Rhine-Moselle department . After the treaties concluded at the Congress of Vienna , the region, including Niederdürenbach, became part of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 . Under the Prussian administration, Niederdürenbach belonged to the mayor's office of Königsfeld in the Ahrweiler district from 1816 , which was part of the Coblenz administrative district and from 1822 to the Rhine province .
The municipality has belonged to the state of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1946 and to the Brohlal community since 1969 .
On January 1, 1979, the Rodder district with 121 inhabitants was re-municipalityed to Niederzissen .

Municipal council
The municipal council in Niederdürenbach consists of twelve council members, who were elected by a majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman. Until 2009, the municipal council had 16 council members.

Sebastian Schmitt became the local mayor of Niederdürenbach on August 12, 2019. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected for five years with 89.98% of the vote.
Schmitt's predecessor as local mayor, August Henn, had held the office for 15 years, but did not take up office again in 2019.
Attractions
The blessing stones made of phonolite tuff are worth seeing (see Segenstein Niederdürenbach ), the St. Wendelinus Chapel in Hain from 1730, the Sauerbrunnen at the fire station and the Olbrück Castle , built around 1050.
About a kilometer north of the village is the Rodder Maar , a shallow lake whose volcanic origin has not yet been proven.

Personalities
- The Finnish-German artist couple Goller-Masalin lived in the Holzwiesen district until early 2013. A group of sculptures from their international art project Kansa for peace , human rights and environmental awareness is in the local community of Brohltalstraße / Rodderweg.
