Spessart is a municipality in the Ahrweiler district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the Brohltal community , which has its administrative headquarters in Niederzissen .
geography
The Brohlbach rises in the Hannebach district . From here it flows through the Brohl valley and flows into the Rhine at Brohl-Lützing . The rare mineral Hannebachite can be found in the former “Hannebacher Ley” quarry .
The community consists of the villages and hamlets Spessart, Hannebach, Wollscheid and Heulingshof.

The Spessart district belonged to the Kempenich rule until the end of the 18th century , the Hannebach and Wollscheid districts to the Olbrück rule .

Frank Klapperich (SPD) became local mayor of Spessart on September 7, 2009. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office for another five years with a share of 84.42% of the votes.
Klapperich's predecessor Christel Groß (FWG) held the office until 2009.
