Thomas Thieringer

Thomas Thieringer (born August 14, 1939 in Berlin ; † February 1, 2014 in Munich ) was a German columnist , journalist and theater and film critic .

Life

After graduating from high school in Stuttgart, Thomas Thieringer studied theater studies and German in Tübingen and Munich. As a television critic he began to write for the Munich newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung in the late 1960s . As a theater critic, he was among the discoverers of Bavarian authors such as Herbert Achternbusch , Martin Sperr and Franz Xaver Kroetz .

He taught theater studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Veronica Ferres was one of his students . Thieringer was on the jury of the Adolf Grimme Prize in Marl for 34 years . In 2007 he received the Bert Donnepp ​​Prize for his life's work.

His obituary notice was signed by over a hundred cultural workers, including Bruno Jonas, Friedrich von Thun and Senta Berger.
