Harald Grobner (born December 4, 1980 in Neunkirchen ) is an Austrian mathematician at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna . His mathematical research deals with algebraic and number theoretical questions of the Langlands program .

Life

Harald Grobner studied mathematics , philosophy and classical philology at the University of Vienna, where he graduated in 2005. From 2005 to 2007 wrote his dissertation he in mathematics at the University of Paris VI and at the University of Vienna, where he completed his dissertation at Joachim Schwermer defended of 2007.

Harald Grobner did research at the Erwin Schrödinger Institute for Mathematical Physics in Vienna, the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn and the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna before he was awarded a Schrödinger Grant from the FWF in 2010 . From 2010 to 2013 he was visiting researcher at Oklahoma State University , the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn and the Institut de mathématiques de Jussieu in Paris. In 2014, Harald Grobner received his habilitation in mathematics from the University of Vienna for his research on automorphic cohomology and the rationality of special L-values .

In August 2016, Harald Grobner was accepted into a permanent position at the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Vienna . Since October 2016 he has headed the international research project "Special L-Values and p-adic L-Functions" funded by the FWF START program, and since 2019 another research project entitled "Automorphic Models and L-Values for Global Algebras" .

Harald Grobner is one of the organizers of the Vienna research seminar "Representations Theory and Automorphic Forms", which since autumn 2018 (at that time still under the name "Number Theory Seminar") leading international experts in the field of number theory have been giving guest lectures at the University of Vienna invites.
