Hideo Yamamoto (draftsman)
Hideo Yamamoto ( Japanese 山 本 英 夫 , Yamamoto Hideo ; * 1968 in Saitama Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese manga artist .
Yamamoto published his first manga in 1989 with Sheep . In the 1990s he drew several predecessors to his manga series Ichi the Killer for various manga magazines , on which he worked from 1998 to 2001. The film adaptation of this manga caused a sensation and made Yamamoto famous. From 2003 he drew on his second internationally successful manga, Homunculus , for Big Comic Spirits .
Yamamoto's drawings, especially in his more recent works such as Homunculus, are very realistic and adapted to the Gekiga style. His manga usually contain an explicit depiction of violence.
