Jerome (sculptor)
Hieronymos ( ancient Greek Ἱερώνυμος ) was a Greek sculptor from Samothrace who lived around 220 BC. Was active in Lindos .
He is only known for his signature on a statue base made of Lartic marble, which was found on the Acropolis of Lindos next to the stoa . The inscription on the base shows that there was a bronze statue on it, originally dating from around 250 BC. BC was created by Phyles from Halicarnassus , Jerome added a second part to the statue. It was donated by Python, a priest of Athena Lindia, Zeus Polieus and Artemis Kekoia .
Who was depicted with the statue is unknown, due to the indentations in the base it is only known that it was a figure standing with both legs.
