Hieronymus Lindenmann

Hieronymus Lindenmann (born June 10, 1638 as Johann Lindenmann ; † January 13, 1709 ) was the librarian of the St. Gallen monastery in 1691 .

Live and act

Hieronymus came from Goldach . In 1652 he is attested in the monastery of St. Gallen, where he made his profession on May 6, 1655 . In 1660 he became a subdeacon , in 1661 a deacon . He then left St. Gallen for Paris to study law there.

After receiving his doctorate on December 18, 1663, he was a teacher at the Disentis Monastery , where he was appointed dean in 1668. However, he returned to St. Gallen in the same year, from where he set off for Murbach together with other conventuals . Back in St. Gallen, he became a brother instructor and apostolic notary in 1672, and a brother instructor in 1674. The transfer to St. Johann followed . From 1683 he was back in St. Gallen and held various monastery offices. From March 17 to November 27, 1691 he was in charge of the abbey library .
