Constantius von Sonnenberg

Constantius von Sonnenberg (born April 5, 1638 in Lucerne as Heinrich von Sonnenberg ; † May 26, 1691 ) was the librarian of the St. Gallen monastery from 1683 to 1691 .

Father Constantius was the son of Eustach von Sonnenberg , Lucerne councilor and former governor in Entlebuch . In 1652 he is attested in the monastery of St. Gallen, where he made his profession on June 11, 1656 . On this occasion, his father transferred 350 guilders to the monastery . In 1660 he became a subdeacon , in 1661 a deacon . He was ordained a priest on April 8, 1662, the primacy followed on April 30 of the same year.

Father Constantius became Subcellerar on November 17, 1662 . In 1665 he was governor in Wil for a short time , then pastor in Wildhaus . After working as a chef in Wil and Rorschach , he was again cellar in St. Gallen in 1675. In 1682 he was appointed abbey librarian and probably also head of the monastery printing house.
