High Grow is a computer game in which the player grows, tends and breeds virtual cannabis plants . The game is unique in its real-time conception and to a certain extent comparable with building simulations. From version 3.0 the game is freeware .

Features and gameplay

In the current version 4.20, High Grow simulates the indoor cultivation of cannabis plants. The aim of the game is to grow and harvest marijuana . Since the simulation runs in real time, it can take up to six months for a plant to become fully grown. The program is based on the computer's system time . It does not have to be started for growth, it is sufficient to start it to care for the virtual plants.

There are three different virtual rooms in the game. The player selects the type of lighting, reflector and flower pot for each room. There are four different soil substrates available. You can choose between 30 cannabis varieties for sowing. In order for the plants to germinate and grow successfully, the lighting duration and watering can be set. The lighting intensity can also be varied via the lamp height. There is also the option of using additives such as fertilizer and lime to promote growth and regulate the pH value of the soil substrate. As the plants grow, they can also be pruned to limit their height and achieve a bushier shape. If male and female plants are allowed to mature together, crossbreeding can also occur. The new types can be saved as a file. Numerous crossings are also available for download on the manufacturer's website.

If you choose the harvest function after rearing and flowering, the player will be presented with a graphic reward certificate stating the amount and THC content of the harvested intoxicant .

Additional functions

  • A built-in music player creates the game atmosphere. Either MIDI or MP3 files can be played. The pieces must be sorted into the music folders of the program. Playback is random.
  • The detailed help file gives tips not only on virtual hemp cultivation. The instructions go far beyond the range of functions of the program and can therefore be seen as a separate manual with care instructions.
  • An adjustable alarm clock reminds you of the need to inhale cannabis soon (“Hey Dude, it's time for a smoke break!”).

There is an image conversion program called High Room that converts JPEG files into new attachment rooms.
