High Frequency Global Communications System

The High Frequency Global Communications System (HFGCS) is a worldwide network of radio stations of the United States Air Force (USAF) for the transmission of encrypted and unencrypted voice messages to aircraft and for air-to-ground communication.

The messages mostly contain instructions (commands) and are called "skykings".

The system is also used to send Emergency Action Message (EAM), an encrypted short message used by the United States Armed Forces to order the use of nuclear weapons ordered by the National Command Authority . The most common application of the system is the common military communication in the chain of command.
