The Explorers Cove ( English for explorer's bay ) is a bay on the Scott coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is located at the northwest head end of the New Harbor on McMurdo Sound .
The US Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1976 in recognition of the numerous researchers who were active in the area around the bay.
