Highland Glory is a power metal band from Norway .

history

Highland Glory began with Phoenix Rizing , which was formed in 1996. The band was an early exponent of the Norwegian power metal scene and released a demo (1997) and two albums, Rise from the Ashes (1998) and Eternal Crusade (2000). Phoenix Rizing also appeared as support for Saxon , Stratovarius and Edguy .

In 2001 the guitarist and singer separated from the rest of the band. The line-up was completed again with the vocalist Jan Thore Grefstad, keyboardist Lars Andrè Rørvik Larsen also took on some guitar play and the band name was changed to "Highland Glory". These changes meant a fresh start.

The debut album From the Cradle to the Brave was a bit harder and more traditional than the melodic Power Metal that had been played to date. The cover artwork was done by Mark Wilkinson, who also drew covers for Iron Maiden , Judas Priest and Marillion . Wilkinson also designed the cover of the Forever Endeavor album , which was recorded in fall 2004 and mixed by Hugo Alvarstein in early 2005.

The sound of Highland Glory has not changed compared to the debut album, the music is based on the classic NWOBHM and the melodic Power Metal of German characteristics.
