Higino de Sousa

Domingos Higino da Ponte e Sousa (born January 11, 1862 in Barrancos , † July 27, 1904 in Lisbon ) was a Portuguese medic.

Career

Sousa studied medicine at the Escola Politécnica in Lisbon and at the Escola Médico-Cirúrgica, where he graduated with honors in 1890. In the same year he presented his doctoral thesis with the thesis O Suicidio (Eng .: The Suicide ). During his studies he also wrote numerous articles for the magazine A Pátria .

He deepened his studies at the Instituto Oftamológico and during a two-year stay in Germany. After his return to Portugal he took over the management of the department for eye diseases at the Hospital de São José in Lisbon, where he made a name for himself with his healing methods.
