Hilda Horak

Hilda Horak (born December 8, 1914 , † September 19, 1995 ) was a Slovenian pianist, music teacher and composer of Polish origin.

Horak studied in Leipzig with Robert Teichmüller and in Budapest with Margit Varro . She came to Zurich as their assistant, where she received her diplomas in piano from Eduard Ruefenacht and music theory from Willi Schuh . Eventually she studied with Svetislav Stančič in Zagreb and with Janko Ravnik in Ljubljana .

Her daughter Marina Horak , who also became known as a pianist, was born here in 1944 . From 1945 to 1974 she taught at the Ljubljana Music Academy. In addition to her daughter, her students included the pianists Aci Bertoncelj , Igor Dekleva and Primož Lorenz , the composers Vladimir Lovec , Janez Matičič and Blaženka Arnič and the conductors Boris Švara and Lovro Arnič . Horak composed a. a. Etudes on a Theme by Paganini for piano (1984).
