Robert Teichmüller (born May 4, 1863 in Braunschweig , † May 6, 1939 in Leipzig ) was a German pianist and university professor .

Life

Robert Teichmüller studied piano and music theory with Carl Reinecke at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Leipzig , founded by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , where he later worked as a university teacher and from 1897 directed piano training. In 1908 he was appointed professor. He was one of the most influential piano teachers of his time. His student group included Günther Ramin , Sigfrid Karg-Elert , Kurt Hessenberg , Rudolf Wagner-Régeny , Bruno Hinze-Reinhold , Paul Aron , Jón Leifs , Rudolf Mauersberger , Marc Lavry, Erwin Thiele , Ingrid Marianne Nagler, Rosl Schmid , Herbert Albert and Andreas Barban, Canada .

Teichmüller was also the editor of revised piano editions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Max Reger . Together with the composer Kurt Herrmann, he was the author of the work “International Modern Piano Music: A Guide and Consultant”, published in 1927.
