Hildegar of Cologne

Hildegar of Cologne , often also Hildiger or Hildeger , († August 8, 753 with "castrum Juberg") was Bishop of Cologne .

Hildegar is considered the first Carolingian bishop of Cologne. He fell on King Pippin's campaign against the Saxons. His feast day in the Catholic Church today is August 8th. In a letter to Pope Stephen II , Boniface asks for a decision on his differences of opinion with Hildegar regarding the Bishop of Utrecht.
