Hildegard Holtstiege

Hildegard Holtstiege (born March 24, 1927 in Havixbeck ) was a professor in the educational science department at the University of Münster. She is considered an expert in Montessori education .

Career

Holtstiege studied pedagogy, psychology and theology at the University of Mainz. She received her doctorate in 1970 with a thesis on Eduard Milde's pedagogy. This was followed by university activities at the universities in Worms and Mainz. In 1975 she was offered a professorship for general pedagogy at the University of Dortmund. In 1978 she moved to the University of Education in Münster, where she received a chair for systematic education.

As a result of the integration of the University of Education into the University of Münster, she taught at the Institute for Theory of Schools and the educational organization of the University of Münster from 1980 until her retirement in 1992. At the University of Münster, together with her colleagues, Paul Oswald and Günter Schulz-Benesch , she established a teaching and research focus with the Montessori Center in Münster.
