Himalia Ridge is a mountain ridge in the east of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . It rises in an east-west orientation on the north side of Ganymede Heights northeast of the Jupiter Glacier .
The British geographer Derek Searle of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped it in 1960 using aerial photographs taken by the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948). The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1985 after Jupiter's moon Himalia .
