Georg Hincha

Georg Hincha (born August 30, 1930 in Groß Schiemanen , Ortelsburg district ; † January 25, 2012 in Wriezen ) was a German linguist .

Life

Hincha completed his habilitation with a thesis on quantitative methods for the classification of language systems . In 1971 he was appointed to the chair for general linguistics at the Technical University of Berlin and retired in September 1995. Hincha worked in the fields of comparative linguistics , phonetics , Iranian and Slavic studies .
