A Hindenburg monument once stood on the Reifershardt in Windeck . It was built between 1914 and 1924 by students from the former Otto Kühne School (today: Bodelschwingh Gymnasium Herchen ) in honor of Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg . The memorial was located between the Upper House , the main building of the local school, and Reifershardt Castle , which used to belong to the school . The bronze Hindenburg relief, a work by the sculptor Melchior von Hugo , was donated by the von Hugo family from the Igelshof .

At the end of the Second World War , the monument was badly damaged by aerial bombs . The bronze relief image was stolen in the post-war period. The loose stones of the monument were later removed. Only the viewing platform was preserved and today allows a beautiful view over the Siegtal at Herchen train station .
