Hindenburgstrasse (Esslingen am Neckar)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hindenburgstraße is an inner-city street in Esslingen am Neckar and connects the districts of Oberesslingen and the inner city.

Starting at Entengrabenstrasse on the Altstadtring, it was originally called Klarastrasse. Expanded after the First World War, this led to Oberesslinger Heusteigstrasse. Both streets were renamed Hindenburgstraße in 1934 , the year Paul von Hindenburg died . On April 27, 2013, a section of the road was opened as the first bicycle road in the Esslingen district and on September 26, 2015, the entire route over 1.85 kilometers in length was inaugurated. This should make Hindenburgstrasse the longest bicycle street in Germany. It runs between Schorndorfer Strasse in the east and Entengrabenstrasse in the west.
