Hinrich Steneke

Hinrich Steneke († 1300 ) was a merchant and mayor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck .

Life

Hinrich Steneke was elected to the Lübeck Council in 1259. In the years 1276, 1277, 1286, 1287, 1289, 1291–1294 and 1298 he was the mayor of Lübeck. As the city's envoy, he was with the German King Rudolf I in 1274 and with King Magnus VI in 1278 . from Norway. Detmar clearly highlights him in his Lübeck Chronicle as “de vil wise man”.

Of his three known children, the son Johann became a canon. Of the two well-known daughters, the probably eldest of his children Anna married the later mayor of Lübeck Albert von Bardewik and Helenburg in 1294 the councilor Segebodo Crispin in his second marriage.
