The Hintere Kohlhaldehöhle is a stalactite cave in Baden-Württemberg. The cave is located on the Swabian Alb near Heroldstatt -Sontheim about 100 meters from the Sontheimer cave .
The approximately 16 × 16 meter cavity is full of candle stalagmites. These slender stalagmites are about 10 to 15 cm in diameter and one to two meters high. In order to protect these particularly bizarre structures, the cave is only open to visitors on one day a year, Pentecost Sunday.
The Hintere Kohlhaldehöhle was discovered in 1987 when a new generator house was being built for the Sontheimer Höhle. It is named after the forest in which the cave is located, the Hintere Kohlhalde. The cave is protected both as a natural monument and as a geotope.
