The Vranovice – Pohořelice railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic that was originally built and operated by the kk priv. Kaiser Ferdinands-Nordbahn as the Branowitz – Pohrlitz local railway . It begins in Vranovice and leads via Přibice and Velký Dvůr to Pohořelice ( Pohrlitz ).
According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.
history
The concession for the Branowitz – Pohrlitz local railway was awarded to the KFNB on September 3, 1894 together with the Rohrbach – Groß Seelowitz line . Part of the concession was the obligation to complete the line within a year and a half and “hand it over to public transport ”. The license was issued until December 31, 1975. On September 17, 1895, the line was put into operation. The KFNB carried out the operation itself.
After the nationalization of the KFNB on January 1, 1906, the line belonged to the network of the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB). From January 1, 1907, the kkStB also took over the management.
After the First World War , the route and network belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD)
After the annexation of the Sudetenland to Germany in the autumn of 1938, part of the route was on German territory. Since there was no direct connection to other German routes, the entire route remained in operation of the now Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB).
On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . With the timetable change on December 12, 2008, the last passenger train service, which was only operated on weekdays, was discontinued on the route. Freight traffic is still taking place.
