Hiroki Endo Short Stories

Hiroki Endo Short Stories ( Japanese 遠藤 浩 輝 短 編 集 , Endō Hiroki tanpenshū ) is a collection of manga short stories by the Japanese illustrator Hiroki Endō , who became known through the manga series Eden . Two anthologies contain seven short stories of different lengths that Endo created between 1996 and 2001. All are aimed primarily at an adult, male readership, so they can be assigned to the genus of his own.

Crows, the girl and a yakuza ( カ ラ ス と 少女 と ヤ ク ザ , karasu to shōjo to yakuza ): The yakuza Aoki is shot by a jealous drug dealer. A homeless girl who fled a home two years ago and lives with abandoned crows finds him and saves him. The drug dealer wants to finally kill Aoki and comes to the girl's house, kills her and also wants to kill the yakuza when he is attacked by crows. Aoki takes a gun and shoots the drug dealer and his men who came with him. When the police arrive at the scene, the injured Aoki is the only survivor. The crows eat the girl.

Perhaps because she is a cute girl ( き っ と か わ い い 女 の 子 だ か ら , kitto kawaii onna no ko dakara ): The schoolgirl Minako Tamura lives alone with her father because her mother and brother died in a car accident. The father wants to remarry. When Minako meets her father's fiancée, she attacks the woman on the street with a knife, but does not injure her. Minako kills her father.

For us who do not believe in the Lord God ( 神 様 な ん て 信 じ て い な い 僕 ら の た め に , kamisama nante shin jitei nai bokura no tameni ): Is a play which is performed in this short story as part of a school theater. The play is about a serial killer sentenced to death and the confrontation between him and the relatives of his victims. The short story is about how the individual actors identify with their characters.

Hang : Shokichi and Megumi and their brother Fumihiko, whose brain was placed in a robot's head after a failed suicide attempt, live together in a city that is "tied to the sky" on several huge ropes. There is no explanation in the course of history of why this is so or how it works.

Publications

Kōdansha published the first volume of short stories in Japan in April 1998. The first book contains three short stories. A second, with four short stories, followed in September 2001.

All stories except the short Boys Don't Cry appeared in the publisher's manga magazines before the book was published. So were crows, the girl and a yakuza , maybe because she is a sweet girl , for us who do not believe in God and to read Platform between 1996 and 1997 in the afternoon , in which Endos Eden is published among other things . Highschoolgirl 2000 appeared in 1999 in Afternoon Season Zōkan , a sister magazine to Afternoon ; Hang 2000 was in the same magazine .

The two volumes have also been published in Taiwan, Italy, France, Germany, and the United States. Egmont Manga & Anime published the German translation of the two anthologies in October 2003 and June 2004.
