The Hirschgraben begins on Wandsbeker Chaussee and runs south to Sievekingsallee . It crosses Papenstrasse, Kiebitzstrasse and Hasselbrookstrasse, then crosses under the railway line of the Lübeck Railway and the S-Bahn to Ohlsdorf and Poppenbüttel and then crosses Marienthaler Strasse. history
The road was laid out around 1866 when this part of the former Hasselbrook forest area was being developed and built on from the northwest. The name "Hirschgraben" goes back to a suggestion by the Senate archivist and local history researcher Otto Beneke , who interpreted the area's field name, which was also recorded as Hertzebrock on old maps, as "Hirschbruch". At that time, however, the name Hirschgraben only applied to the northern section of the road between Wandsbeker Chaussee and Hasselbrookstrasse, while the section south of Hasselbrookstrasse originally belonged to Jordanstrasse. It was not until the 1950s that the Jordanstrasse was divided into two dead ends by the extension of Sievekingsallee and the northern part was added to the Hirschgraben.
Special buildings
The multi-storey building Hirschgraben 58 (originally on Jordanstrasse) dates from 1905 and is one of the few examples of pre-war development that is a listed building. Also noteworthy is a former spice mill in Hirschgraben 30, which today houses the Consulate General of the Republic of Chile .
