Hisako Takamado
Princess Hisako of Takamado ( Japanese 高 円 宮 憲 仁 親 王妃 久 子 Takamado-no-miya Norihito Shinnōhi-Hisako; born July 10, 1953 in Tokyo as Hisako Tottori ( 鳥取 久 子 Tottori Hisako )) is a Japanese princess.
Life
Princess Takamado graduated from Girton College at Cambridge University in 1975 . On September 17, 1984 she became engaged to Prince Norihito Takamado , married him on December 6, 1984 and received the title "Princess Takamado". Both have three daughters:
- Princess Tsuguko ( 承 子女 王 , Tsuguko-joō; * March 8, 1986)
- Princess Noriko ( 典 子女 王 , Noriko-joō; * July 22, 1988)
- Princess Ayako ( 絢 子女 王 , Ayako-joō; * September 15, 1990)
Tsuguko studied Sociology in Scotland at Edinburgh University , Noriko Clinical Psychology at Gakushūin University, and Ayako Wohlfahrt at Jōsai International University .
She accompanied her husband on numerous trips abroad, for example from May to June 2002 for the opening of the Soccer World Cup in South Korea, which was jointly organized by South Korea and Japan. Shortly afterwards, her husband died of heart failure.
Some of their functions
Today Princess Takamado is active as President or Honorary President of at least 23 organizations. These focus on sport, the promotion of international cultural exchange and nature conservation (e.g. in the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP)). She took over some of the obligations from her husband. Princess Takamado caused a sensation when she advocated the introduction of weight classes in traditional sumo wrestling in order to put a stop to the health-threatening consequences of being overweight for athletes.
